Starting the event notification server as a process

To start the event notification server on your own computer as a process:

This method works whether or not the SafetyLink Risk Manager program components are located in the same folder as the database or in separate folders.

  1. From the menu select File / Options

  2. Select Start event notifier server (on this computer)

The event notification server runs in your system tray with the icon (usually at the bottom right of the screen). Only one computer needs to run an event notification server and this will send all email notifications to employees over Internet regardless of their location.

Another way to verify that the event notification servers is started, from the menu select File / Options / List started event notifiers which shows any started event notification server, the computer it is running on and the last date and time each checked for notifications.

Starting the event notification server this way will also create a shortcut to "HSENotifier.exe" in your startup folder so that the event notification server will restart when you start your computer.

To start the event notification server as a process on a server either:

The command to start the notifier is hsenotifier.exe Path="databasepath".

Hsenotifier.exe is installed with the program components of the SafetyLink Risk Manager. The Path="databasepath" must specify the path of the database tables used by the application (the double quotes are required around the path). If omitted the default path is the same as the path where hsenotifier.exe is executed from.

You can find the database path either from the properties of the shortcut used to run the Compliance Manager from the Shortcut  tab under Start in or, if you run the SafetyLink Risk Manager, from the menu select File/ Registration / View registered options. The database folder is in the Installed Here (data).

Note: If the program and database have been separated, e.g. on a Citrix application server, it is important to ensure that the email notifier is told where the database is located using the command above.
