The event notification server is a separate executable that runs either as a process or as a service. It can run on any computer that is connected to the network and has access to the folder where the H&S Compliance Manager is installed, usually on a server drive.
When notifications in the Calendar of events are due to be sent, the notification server emails them to the appropriate recipient via an SMPT email server. The details of this email sever are set up in Company and site information.
Note: This feature is available with current maintenance and is dependent on the software edition.
Evaluation edition: This tab is disabled and you cannot change the SMTP server which has already been set up for you for evaluation purposes so that you can receive email notifications automatically. When you log on to an Evaluation edition for the first time, the application will ask for you first and last names and your email address to which will be sent any notifications for event types that are enabled. You can change an employee email address by editing the employee record.
Express edition: The email notification server is available as part of annual maintenance. The SMTP server is pre-configured to use the Compliance Solutions default mail server.
Gold edition: Initially the SMTP server is pre-configured to use the Compliance Solutions default mail server. When you register your product, you can change this to use you own company's SMTP email server.
Enterprise edition: Initially the SMTP server is pre-configured to use the Compliance Solutions supplied mail server. When you register your product, you can change this to use you own company's SMTP email server.
Set up the SMTP server details
Select the Company
icon on the toolbar. The Setup Company Information screen opens.
Select the Event Notification Server tab then enter the server information.
Click OK.
Note: In most cases you will need to get this information from your system administrator.
Verify that an email can be sent using this server
Select File/Options/Test email notifier.
In the Send Test Mail window Click the Send test email button.
If a test email was sent you will see an acknowledgement message and the email is sent to the address specified in the "From email address" in the setup information in the company and site setup.
