Setting up the event notification email server

The event notification server is a separate executable that runs either as a process or as a service. It can run on any computer that is connected to the network and has access to the folder where the H&S Compliance Manager is installed, usually on a server drive.

 

When notifications in the Calendar of events are due to be sent, the notification server emails them to the appropriate recipient via an SMPT  What is SMTP? (pronounced as separate letters) Short for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, a protocol for sending e-mail messages between servers. Most e-mail systems that send mail over the Internet use SMTP to send messages from one server to another; the messages can then be retrieved with an e-mail client using either POP or IMAP. Note: This feature is available with current maintenance and is dependent on the software edition.

 

Set up the SMTP server details

  1. Select the Company icon on the toolbar. The Setup Company Information screen opens.

  2. Select the Event Notification Server tab then enter the server information.

  3. Click OK.

 

Note: In most cases you will need to get this information from your system administrator.

 

 

Verify that an email can be sent using this server

  1. Select File/Options/Test email notifier.

  2. In the Send Test Mail window Click the Send test email button.

If a test email was sent you will see an acknowledgement message and the email is sent to the address specified in the "From email address" in the setup information in the company and site setup.
