Lost time is an important measure in incident and accident statistics reporting, particularly for accident severity and lost time graphing. Lost Time and incident costs are both added to an incident in the same way, from the Costs/Lost Time tab in the incident.
When the incident is added involving harm that is not fatal, the user is prompted - "Is it a Lost Time Incident (LTI)?" This enables the Costs/Lost time tab where lost time is entered.
To add lost time to an accident:
If the incident record is not already open, click the Incidents
icon on the toolbar. The Browse Accidents and Incidents screen opens. Select the incident or accident and click Change. The Change an Accident/Incident Record screen opens.
Select the Costs/Lost Time tab and click Press to Select a Costing Template. The Select Incident Cost Template screen opens.
Select the template you want to use and click Select. The template will be copied into the incident.
Click the Expand button
to expand the cost categories (in red) and view the cost types (in blue) under it.
You can create other costing templates or customise the one provided. The following assumes you selected the "Standard" costing template provided with the system.
Under the People associated costs costing category (in red), highlight The injured person cost type (in blue).
Either right mouse click and selectInsert or click the Add button at the top of the table to add a new cost item line under the injured person cost type.
Cost/Lost time items are always added under the highlighted cost type. If you double clicked the cost type (in blue) instead of selecting Insert or Add, it will change the cost type rather than add a cost/lost time item under it.
In the Cost Item Will Be Added screen, enter details of the lost time and optional costs.
Because lost time is checked on, this will update the lost time for the incident. The template cost time set the default for which cost types include lost time. In the "Standard" template, the only lost time entry with lost time set on is under the injured person.
Click
to save the costs/lost time item.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 to add further items.
Click OK to exit or select another tab or to add further information about the incident or accident.
